1Horrible for multi-purpose tray
By Barb
WE HATE THIS PRINTER. Two of us share it. Every single time something is put into the MP tray a message pops up asking if we want to use something beside the default. We always hit "no", but it takes several tries before the screen accepts our answer and then will print. But it doesn't matter what you feed - the default option is irrelevant. It only exists to have a pop-up screen that makes you want to punch the printer. We use the feeder a dozen or more times a day, switching between paper and envelopes, so cursing at the printer is common. Dell won't make the simple software update that would allow us to turn it off. Prior to this we had a Dell printer for years, but never again. If you're only going to print and scan, it's fine. But my condolences if you have to feed anything.

5Price, performance, and It looks good too!
By Joseph H.
Replaced a dinosaur, 100+ lb, old laser/toner copier with this unit. It impressed everybody with the quality, connectivity as a computer scanner/printer, 2-sided everything easily, and the guy who installed it loved its 42 lb. package.

2Decent while it lasted
By Winchester
Used this printer moderately for 2 years, no more than 2,000-6,000 pages/month, given it's rating at 80,000 ppm figured it would last longer.

The good:

The scanner worked very good for what I needed it for, pretty quick at 300dpi into a pdf, the automatic document feeder worked well and rarely pulled more than one page through at a time, perfect for what I needed it for... I used this function a lot.

Printed fine till the end.

The bad:

The menu pop up whenever you filled up the paper or added paper to the mufti-purpose tray drove me nuts, I never figured out a way to disable it.

After 70,000-80,000 pages through the machine it started jamming... all the time. I cleared the jams, even took out the fuser unit to make sure there was nothing stuck in it, put it back together and it would work for 10-100 pages and start jamming again with every page.

My only thought is I need to replace the fuser unit, not cheap and no guarantee it would solve my problem so new printer time.

Very, very disappointed. Given the monthly duty rating I really thought the thing would be more durable.
